Governments interested in participating in the URA are asked to adopt a resolution of intent to:
Express their intent and commitment to working with other governments to launch a URA
Direct staff to work with other governments to develop an ILA
While an ILA is development, commit to certain activities related to collecting data, connecting residents to resources, and developing an inclement weather policy
The resolutions serve as a stepping stone to an interlocal agreement. They do not create binding legal or financial obligations.
The following governments have adopted a resolution expressing their commitment to launching a URA:
Pierce County: Resolution No. R2026-152, adopted May 26
City of Fife: Resolution No. 2259, adopted June 23
City of Gig Harbor: Resolution 1363, adopted July 13
City of Lakewood: Resolution No. 2026-06, adopted August 3
City of Tacoma: Resolution No. 42011, adopted August 25
City of Orting: Resolution No. 2026-23, adopted August 26
City of Ruston: Resolution 825, adopted September 1
